Abstract

The particulate flow is solved by the direct numerical simualtion using Euler-Euler approarch method. The objective is to investigate the interaction between the flow and particles and to develop the particulate model for the large scale compressible multiphase flow simulation.

Reasons and benefits of using JAXA Supercomputer System

The particulate flow becomes expensive in order to investigate the interaction between the flow and particles using Cartesian grid and the immersed boundary method. Also, the number of the time integrations becomes large due to obtain the equilibrium state of the particulate flow.

Achievements of the Year

The compressible flow analysis with high resolution was conducted by using the Cartesian grid method. Fig.1 shows flow distributions around two particles which the computational grid is set to be the particle diameter divided by 100. When the shock wave cross the particles, the influense of the distance between the particles is displayed in Fig. 2.
