Abstract

In this project, we conduct a research on Embedded Large Eddy Simulation (ELES), which is one of the approach to simulate unsteady flows, in order to predict and understand the three-dimensional buffet phenomenon.

Reasons for using JSS2

Unsteady flow simulations with ELES need relatively large computational grid compared to RANS simulations in order to develop artificially added distrubances in the flow field. JSS2 is used to accelerate the computational time.

Achievements of the Year

As a preliminary step of applyinf ELES to three-dimensional buffet phenomenon, validation was performed by applying ELES to low speed turbulent flow simulations. In the case of the turbulent boundary layer flow over flat plate, the result obtained by ELES could reproduced the log-low and showed good agreement with RANS result.
