Reasons and benefits of using JAXA Supercomputer System
In this study, the large‑scale parallel computing capability and substantial memory resources of the supercomputer were required to perform accurate and highly reproducible eigenvalue analyses using FrontISTR on the approximately 4.5‑million‑element structural model of the Prelude satellite, and as a result, we were able to achieve stable computations within a short time frame that would be difficult on ordinary computing environments, carry out reliable validation based on vibration test results, accelerate parametric analyses, and ultimately enhance both the efficiency and reliability of the overall satellite design and development process.
Achievements of the Year
We validated the large‑scale parallel FEM analysis capabilities of FrontISTR using vibration test data from Nihon University’s microsatellite Prelude, and we also performed verification for a commercial satellite by comparing structural analyses with NASTRAN and thermal analyses with Thermal Desktop.
