Reasons and benefits of using JAXA Supercomputer System

Because a unsteady analyses of the full annular fan are required, the calculations become large-scale and the analyses cannot be performed without JSS3.

Achievements of the Year

The aerodynamic characteristics of the fan were analyzed under inlet conditions simulating boundary layer ingestion (BLI). The results confirmed that BLI causes a decrease in efficiency at the point of maximum efficiency and a reduction in the operating range.
