Abstract

Aeroelastic deformation of helicopter rotor blades plays a significant role in vibration and noise generation. Accurate prediction of these effects through numerical simulation is essential in rotorcraft development. The objective of this study is to improve the prediction accuracy of aeroelastic deformation in rotor blades. This study focuses on developing methods for estimating blade structural properties and numerical simulation techniques to accurately predict aeroelastic deformation.

Supercomputer is required to capture the detailed vortex structures around the rotor blades.

Achievements of the Year

CFD/CSD analyses, as shown in Fig. 1, were performed using blade structural properties derived from static load tests. Based on the test results, the in-plane and torsional stiffness, as well as the elastic axis, were updated from the original design values. The simulation results were compared with blade elastic deformation measured in wind tunnel tests. The results indicate that the use of revised structural properties improves the prediction accuracy of elastic deformation in the CFD/CSD analyses.
