Reasons and benefits of using JAXA Supercomputer System
JSS is used to simulate the clear-air turbulence encountered by aircraft in weather analysis programmes.
Achievements of the Year
Analysis of clear-air turbulence encountered by aircraft during high-altitude flight
was conducted across various scenarios. To intentionally generate the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability (KHI), one cause of clear-air turbulence, the WRF IDEAL tool was employed. By varying the vertical wind speed and wind direction within the analysis space, various types of clear-air turbulence were generated, enabling the collection of analysis data.
