We are studying sample return missions using multiple spacecraft in a mother-daughter configuration.

Reasons and benefits of using JAXA Supercomputer System

Large-scale computational resources were required to perform simulations in which various parameters, such as initial conditions and material properties, were systematically varied; therefore, the JAXA supercomputer was used.

Achievements of the Year

We investigated a simple capture method for a spherical container released from the daughter spacecraft by utilizing collision. Since the capture outcome depends on various parameters, we conducted simulations in which these parameters were systematically varied and evaluated the effect of each parameter on the capture outcome.
