Abstract

Long-term process of cloud microphysics estimation from CloudSat satellite and CALIPSO satellite

Goal

To construct a climate dataset of cloud and atmospheric particles (aerosols) from CloudSat, CALIPSO and EarthCARE satellites and to deepen the understanding of the cloud behavior in the Earth system and the aerosol-cloud interaction, which induce the large uncertainties in the climate change prediction.

Objective

To construct a long-term dataset of cloud and atmospheric particles (aerosols) from CloudSat and CALIPSO satellites.

Achievements of the Year

Long-term process of cloud microphysics estimation from CloudSat satellite and CALIPSO satellite has done twice.

target period : 90 months x 2set

number of data : 33097 x 2set

processing time : 32.5 hour x 2set

normal process time for one data : ~560 [sec]

Effective process time for one data by JSS2 (160 parallel process) : ~3.5 [sec]

→ 160 times faster by using JSS2 SORA-MA

Fig.1 shows the effective radius of ice as a major physical data of the output.
